Maple, Mother of Pearl, White Gold

"Zipper" lamp design was inspired by the Art Deco period. The base is
dyed maple with gloss varnish. Originally the inlaid mother of pearl zipper
graphic was going to be the same on both sides. That layout seemed too
symmetric. Using gravity for the reverse was the answer. On the surface of the board I set up the cut pieces in the zipper patern, tilted the board and watched the pieces slide. The 19th time yielded the exact pattern you see to the right!

The foot and finial are water-gilt white gold. The brown rayon wrapped
cord has an online dimmer.
