"South Sea Pearls" is the result of fusing information. I wanted to make
a variation of the piece titled "Floating Pearls" and impart a feeling of
dark quietude.

This mirror frame was a light bulb of design. In an instant the
arrangement was solidified in my mind. I like seeing the compressed
hand-carving, finished with the elegant luster of graphite, surrounded by
the brilliant water-gilt white gold molding. The Ebony inlays are the
reference to that rare and expensive pearl found in the South Pacific. The
larger support frame has been gilded with white gold then glazed and
stippled.
