Mahogany, Basswood, Engraved Glass

This Five Panel Screen has been one of my most successful designs. The beveled glass pane at the top of each panel provides a physical barrier without blocking one's view. The spiral designs were wheel cut into the glass by a German-trained master engraver.

The spirals are carved into panels of Basswood. I rubbed the background
surface of each Basswood panel with subtle Autumn colors and then sealed it with high gloss varnish. The reverse of each panel is covered in Dutch gold. The framework is stained Mahogany.
