As an artist whose work grew out of a variety of sculptural mediums such as glass, neon and plaster, my current work is with wood. My first collection launched in 1994 addressed my fascination with mirrors and their reflection. Wood provided a further exploration of hard surfaces that could be carved, chiseled and stained. My work became more dimensional and functional as I incorporated it into furnishings, lamps and decorative screens.

For me, sensitivity to a material is an appreciation of
the balance
between art and craft...To create a vision not yet realized, the issue
addressed is: "How do I best transform rough wood into an expressionistic
form with adornment, from sight to touch?" The point of departure is
determined by a sense of fusion encompassing design and pattern. I've
learned from life that calculated risks lead to the most interesting,
exciting and sexy results.
